How the Trench Excavation Calculator works
Yardaris calculates rectangular trench volume as length × width × average depth. Cubic feet are divided by 27 to produce bank cubic yards (BCY). Swell is then applied separately to estimate loose cubic yards (LCY) for hauling. Required loads are rounded up from loose volume divided by the entered usable truck capacity.
